Victory Newsletter!: December 2019

The past year has been one of change and excitement for Victory Service Dogs. We moved out of a spare office and into our very own facility that houses our administrative offices, multiple training rooms, and a venue for events and fundraisers. We also survived our first (and hopefully only!) break in!

There have been several changes with the Board of Directors and administrative and training staff; the result being a stronger, unified organization that focuses on providing our veterans with high quality training.

It has been a very busy year for VSD. Due to the overwhelming need from the veteran community, applications were suspended over the summer months as we focused on graduating the teams that were in training while building a program that better addressed the diverse needs of our clientele. We restructured our training staff and curriculum to ensure an exceptional level of training. Despite some minor challenges, the efforts of our staff and trainers has paid off, as more than 20 veteran/service dog teams have graduated from the program in 2019, (including our first juvenile handler/service dog team), and as of mid-September, applications were once again available and we are excited about the additional Post Graduate Training Program that we are able to offer to our graduated teams to assist in advanced task training.

We have a lot to look forward to in 2020! While the primary focus of the mission has not changed, the organization goal for the new year is to begin inviting first-responders and military family members suffering from disabilities to apply to our service dog training program.

None of this would be possible without the donations and support from our volunteers and sponsors throughout the Front Range. We have cultivated many new relationships this past year and greatly appreciate the generosity that we have received from the community, both locally and nationwide.

Right now we are involved in several end of year giving campaigns, Colorado Gives, CFC #78035, and the Indy Give campaign. You are able to receive a receipt for your tax deductible donation. Even the smallest donations count! We believe we are saving the lives of our much deserving veterans and rescuing dogs that need a second chance.

Thank you again for your continued support of Victory Service Dogs.
